Five years of coming up with some of the beauty world's favourite nail polish colours (Jade, Particuliere and Mimosa were all the creations of this creative mind), formulating some truly one-of a kind products and coming up with some of Chanel's most fabulous catwalk make-up looks, Philips is swapping his official title for a contributing artist role.

Chanel expands in China and Brazil

Chanel- Rue Cambon Paris
Chanel celebrated the opening of its mono brand store in China last week in the city of Dalian, making it the twelfth mono brand store in China.

Hot on it's earlier announcement last month that Chanel will not be launching an e-commerce store the French luxury brand plans to open an additional store in Nanjing by the end of this year.

Unlike it's luxury counterparts the Chanel luxury train shows no signs of slowing down with the exclusive brand house furthering plans to expand in Brazil this year and is set to open a third store in Sao Paolo and in Europe, Chanel is set to open a mono-brand store in Luxembourg by the end of this year also.

Chanel Boutique, located at 51, Avenue Montaigne, Paris

Privately owned by the Wertheimer family, Chanel operates 180 mono-brand stores worldwide, with an estimated turnover of 3 billion euro. Chanel devotees can be assured the brands ethos of bringing the personal touch only experienced in boutique. is expanding.

Chanel will not be launching e-commerce site

Chanel confirmed this week that it will not be following the trend of it's luxury counterparts in order to stay true to its ethos. The brand's president of fashion, Bruno Pavlovsky, maintains that its clothes are viewed better in stores, where customers are tended to by staff.

"Our clothes are quite sophisticated and one of our strengths is alterations," Pavlovsky said. "To be able to wear Chanel clothes, you need to try them on. You need to be in the fitting room. You need to have a tailor who alters the clothes to fit exactly to your body. I think it's part of Chanel. It's more than just our service. It's part of our differentiation to have ready-to-wear that is perfect for our customers. What we want today - and the way we use digital - is to have more and more people come to the boutique to see the product, to touch the product, but also to try the product."

"It's a strategic choice," Pavlosky talking to the Business of Fashion. "It's a choice to say: 'Guys, you can see whatever you want on the internet, but we want you to come to the boutique, because we feel that in the boutique we can give you the right understanding of the brand.' So, yes we could sell handbags on the internet. But my feeling is that it's not qualitative enough and it's not the kind of service that we want to give to our customers - at the moment."

Chanel currently sells fragrance and beauty products digitally, but ready-to-wear and handbags are still only available in boutiques. Although there are "huge" plans to launch an "e-service project" within the next five years, for now, Chanel devotees can rule out any full online shopping experience for the brand.

The luxury experience has long been a personal one and like much of the industry Delortae Agency that admits to being slow to take to the impersonal online approach it is nice to see that Chanel are keeping true to the tradition, what is your view?

Blake Lively Causes Catfight at Chanel!

Rumour has it that the business people over at Chanel are unhappy about head designer Karl Lagerfeld’s choice to make Blake Lively the face of their latest handbag collection “Mademoiselle”!

There has been grumbling about the fact that Blake doesn’t really suit the classic Fashion house and we are hearing rumors that she has been accused of having an “off brand look”. What does that even mean?

I think she exudes style, sophistication and glamour and puts a youthful face to the brand which is what the collection needs. It would appeal to the younger market for me it does not appeal as much as the classic flap.

I am happy that Karl Lagerfeld got his way and gets to put whoever he wants for his ad campaigns, we totally agree with him that she is the All-American dream girl! (NewYorkDailyNews)

Courtney Love Fails in Givenchy

Courtney Love looked so amazing this past February at the Elle Style Awards, but for some reason she decided not to care the amfAR Cinema Against Aids Gala at Cannes last night.

Courtney wore a Givenchy Spring 2011 Couture gown which many thought, just didn’t flatter her. Industry insiders' felt she showed a bit too much cleavage with that plunging neckline and just couldn’t work the dress. The bow, the multi layers, the feathers, the sheer material at the bottom, was just too much.

Courtney, who posed for photos with Karl Lagerfeld, later performed at the show.

Personally, I think she looks great, in that dress it would be a struggle to look anything but fabulous!
