Roberto Cavalli designs a sexy exercise bike

Roberto Cavalli has managed to put his signature leopard print and heavily gilded stamp on an exercise bike. That’s right. The Roberto Cavalli for Cicolette collection features 6 styles of stationary bikes featuring a minimal shape consisting of a wheel, seat, handlebar (which look more like animal horns) and comes in a variety of flashy colors and metal combos that Lady Gaga can appreciate.  In fact, this bike is just about as wacky and over-the-top as Gaga's Hussein Chalayan egg. It would be no suprise to see her and her back up dancers spinning on the Cavalli bikes during her next performance.

There’s black carbon fiber with jaguar or zebra print or gold steel with jaguar print which while being a slightly ostentatious is a sleek alternative to planting a traditional, clunky stationary bike in your living room.

It’s sure to be a conversation piece when guests come over. Especially if you also have the exercise gear to go with it; Cavalli has an active wear range called Cavalli Gym hitting stores this month along with the bikes (think more leopard found on leggings and skin tight zip up jackets)

Roberto Cavalli for Ciclotte bikes are available exclusively in Roberto Cavalli boutiques. The Cavalli gym collection is in Roberto Cavalli boutiques and other select stores.

UPDATE: Christian Louboutin Sues Yves Saint Laurent

NEW YORK (Reuters Life!) – Paris-based designer Christian Louboutin, whose pumps have graced many fabulous and famous feet, sued fashion rival Yves Saint Laurent over the use of the color red on shoe soles.

“Mr. Louboutin is the first designer to develop the idea of having red soles on women’s shoes,” said the trademark infringement lawsuit filed in Manhattan federal court on Thursday.

Since January, Louboutin said in the suit, he has asked luxury company Yves Saint Laurent America, a subsidiary of the Gucci Group, to stop selling red-soled shoes in the same select Manhattan stores as he does.

“Defendants’ use of red footwear outsoles that are virtually identical to plaintiffs’ Red Sole Mark is likely to cause and is causing confusion, mistake and deception among the relevant purchasing public,” the suit said.

The suit asks for a U.S. judge to impose $1 million in damages and order YSL to stop manufacturing similar designs.

The Gucci Group was not available for comment and the U.S. branch of Yves Saint Laurent declined comment on the lawsuit.

Since shortly after Louboutin founded his first boutique in 1991 in Paris, the suit said, all his shoes have had red-lacquered soles. They can fetch more than $1,000 a pair.

“The Red Sole has become synonymous with Christian Louboutin and high fashion,” it said, adding that Louboutin had trademarked the design in the United States in 2008.

YSL Issues Rebuttal In Louboutin ‘Red Soles’ Lawsuit

The most recent courtroom update involves an arguably snarky rebuttal from YSL, essentially pooh-poohing Louboutin’s claims. According to The Daily Mail, Louboutin claims to be “the first designer to develop the idea of having red soles on women’s shoes,” in spite of the fact that YSL has used scarlet soles on select shoe styles since the ’70s — long before Louboutin’s innovation in 1992.

Court papers filed by YSL state that “Louboutin was fraudulent in his trademark application claim that he had ‘exclusive’ use of the red sole:

“Red out-soles are a commonly used ornamental design feature in footwear, dating as far back as the red shoes worn by King Louis XIV in the 1600s and the ruby red shoes that carried Dorothy home in The Wizard of Oz.”

Louboutin also went head-to-head, or heel-to-heel, with Brazilian shoemaker Carmen Steffens for producing shoes with his “signature” soles. In both lawsuits, Louboutin claims that the other designers’ red-soled shoes are being mistaken for those by Louboutin, creating a false identity for his company.

Blake Lively Causes Catfight at Chanel!

Rumour has it that the business people over at Chanel are unhappy about head designer Karl Lagerfeld’s choice to make Blake Lively the face of their latest handbag collection “Mademoiselle”!

There has been grumbling about the fact that Blake doesn’t really suit the classic Fashion house and we are hearing rumors that she has been accused of having an “off brand look”. What does that even mean?

I think she exudes style, sophistication and glamour and puts a youthful face to the brand which is what the collection needs. It would appeal to the younger market for me it does not appeal as much as the classic flap.

I am happy that Karl Lagerfeld got his way and gets to put whoever he wants for his ad campaigns, we totally agree with him that she is the All-American dream girl! (NewYorkDailyNews)

Louboutin Tries To Stop Dior From Making Red-Soled Shoes

2nd fashion law suit begins! - This time Dior comes under fire as the legal fights continues......

Court papers filed on Tuesday show Louboutin got information from a private investigator who said Christian Dior was planning to launch a red-soled shoe collection next season. The PI was hired to find information on the YSL case, but instead found information about Dior. Louboutin will not press charges against Dior, and Dior denies the claims.

The case against YSL presses on, with remarks from both sides getting snippier by the second. YSL says:

“Louboutin’s trademark should have never been granted…We just don’t think that any fashion designer should be able to monopolize any color.”

While Louboutin’s team shot back and said the claim was “utter rubbish” and “unless you are living in a cave” the consumer recognizes a red sole as a Louboutin. But don’t worry, Louboutin doesn’t claim to own every red under the sun. Louboutin’s lawyer Harley Lewin said:

“We are not claiming to own every red under the sun. There’s a particular red that Christian uses on his shoes, a bright, lacquered red. We aren’t saying burgundy or orange-red, we aren’t saying pink. We don’t own any other red but that red.”

The case will be decided on Friday by New York judge Victor Marrero.

Ashley Tisdale Debuts Her Blue Birkin

The 25-year-old actress exposed her brand new Hermes Birkin bag to the California air for the first time in Beverly Hills on Wednesday afternoon April 20 2011.

Ashley was forced to wait for her Birkin for two years, 2 years is a long time, but it’s not that bad considering the fact that there is a 6-year wait list for the bag– the longest wait for any bag in history.

The only way you will be able to get one is if you are extremely lucky and they have klout at the store because they no longer take special orders from regular folks.

So what does the The Hellcats and High School Musical do after taking the picture of her bag (above) what all us ladies on Twitter would do, and tweet of course!

The 25-year-old Tweeted in reference to the infamously long wait list the store traditionally has for one of these accessories. Tisdale bought a cobalt blue version, one of the most popular colours of spring so far. The Hermès store in New York sells the Birkin bag for £5,513 and up, a salesperson tells us.

Hailee Steinfeld is the New Face of Miu Miu

Hailee Steinfeld is only 14, but she’s already a seasoned pro when it comes to the red carpet. The young star was consistently stunning during awards season, lighting up events in age-appropriate creations by Marchesa, Alberta Ferretti and Prada.

Now, Steinfeld has been chosen to front the next campaign for Miu Miu, Miuccia Prada’s more youthful label. Hailee has been spotted in several Miu Miu pieces, including the crystal-emblazoned dress she wore to the BAFTA Awards in February.

Previous Miu Miu spokesmodels include Lindsay Lohan, Katie Holmes, Kirsten Dunst and Kim Basinger. Hopefully Hailee will be just the girl to capture Miu Miu’s playful spirit.

Khloe Kardashian exposes her shoe fetish to ELLE

Khloe Kardashian took Elle magazine inside her colossal shoe closet and opened up about her shoe fetish.

“I love all of my shoes! It is a must to have them color coordinated, and to be able to see each and every one of them. I know exactly where each one lives and I can tell if one has even been moved! It definitely helps to put one shoe facing front, and the other to the back. It saves space, but it is also nice to be able to see the back-side of the shoe. I am an organization freak!”

Have to say Khloe, loving it too!

Courtney Love Fails in Givenchy

Courtney Love looked so amazing this past February at the Elle Style Awards, but for some reason she decided not to care the amfAR Cinema Against Aids Gala at Cannes last night.

Courtney wore a Givenchy Spring 2011 Couture gown which many thought, just didn’t flatter her. Industry insiders' felt she showed a bit too much cleavage with that plunging neckline and just couldn’t work the dress. The bow, the multi layers, the feathers, the sheer material at the bottom, was just too much.

Courtney, who posed for photos with Karl Lagerfeld, later performed at the show.

Personally, I think she looks great, in that dress it would be a struggle to look anything but fabulous!

A First Look at Gwyneth Paltrow’s 2011 Fall Coach Ads

In April, Gwyneth Paltrow was spotted exiting Coach headquarters with company creative director Reed Krakoff. Soon after, Coach confirmed that Paltrow was set to serve as brand ambassador for an international campaign to mark Coach’s 70th anniversary this Fall and next Spring. Krakoff called Paltrow “a natural choice . . . She embodies the spirit, energy and elegance of the Coach brand.”
Peter Lindbergh shot Paltrow on the top of the Tudor City skyscrapers in Manhattan for ads that will only be used in international issues of Vogue, Vanity Fair, InStyle and Harper’s Bazaar.

Why did French luxury brand Hermes cut its prices?

Hermes Swift Leather Pochette Kelly 2 Mini Clutch
After the announcement of a free trade agreement between Korea and the European Union, major European luxury brands started to raise prices. Hermes of France, however, announced a price cut Thursday, something which has embarrassed the luxury sector.

The luxury industry has raised prices every year as part of their strategy to keep their premium image, and Hermes did the same whenever cause for a raise arose.

Hermes announced an average price cut of 5.6 percent and a high of 10 percent Friday, saying, “Hermes goods are produced mostly in EU countries such as France, Italy and the U.K., so it benefits most from the Korea-EU FTA. We decided to lower prices to return some of the benefits to our customers.”

Other luxury brands warned that the price cut could deal a blow to their images since they could be seen as "less honest companies" compared with Hermes. Sources in the luxury industry said, however, that the point of their fear is that luxury brands have become a subject of rational judgment as price has grown into a hot debates.

Michel Chevalier, the author of “Luxury Brand Management,” said, “Luxury brand customers do not want to be reasonable when they buy goods because when they become reasonable, the pleasure of shopping diminishes.”

The major fear of the luxury industry is that if the rational standard becomes an issue, core customers who are willing to open their wallets for the “value of dreams” such as psychological superiority will be disappointed, losing their dreams. For this reason, many luxury brands maintain a “no comment strategy” on the price issue.

Lee Jang-hyeok, a business management professor at Korea University in Seoul, said, “The price policy of luxury goods involves much more complicated strategic decisions than that of general consumer goods.”

He said Hermes doubts that its price cut will deal a blow to its image because it enjoys strong recognition as the most expensive brand, and this is why the brand unusually decided to return the benefits of the free trade deal to customers.

Hermes is one of the world`s most expensive brands with its major product line “Birkin 35” costing an average of 12.8 million won (12,080 U.S. dollars), which is 5 million won (4,720 dollars) higher than other designer bags.

A Hermes source said, “We cautiously lowered prices after closely monitoring customer response.”
Other luxury brands plan to continue their premium pricing strategy, however. Chanel has strengthened its premium strategy in lowering its target age group over the past several years.
Louis Vuitton also plans to go to high-end luxury by making stores twice or three times larger, and other brands are following suit.

Sources in the luxury industry say the sector is under fire for raising prices just because of the free trade agreement. An industry expert said, “Lowering the price of luxury goods will be determined not by public opinion or a change in revenues but by the brands’ strategies.”
